Russia's Vice FM likely to be new ambassador to China

Russia's Vice Foreign Minister Sergei Razova is expected to become ambassador to China replacing veteran Ambassador Igor A. Rogachev who is to leave the post this month, according to the Russian Embassy in Beijing Friday.

Razova, who had served as Russian ambassador to Mongolia and Poland, "is good at Chinese and once worked in China," Rogachev told Xinhua.

Razova was reported as saying that Russia and China, based on their strategic cooperative partnership, would make great contribution to the establishment of a multilateral and global security system as well as a just and democratic world, when he visited the Chinese Embassy in Moscow earlier this month.

Rogachev, 73, has spent more than 20 years in China and is expected to take his new post in the Federal Assembly of Russian Federation. "I will spare no efforts to continue promoting Russia-China friendship," he said.
