Zhang Zhijun, deputy head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, left here Saturday evening for Israel and Palestine.

Zhang, as the CPC representative, will attend a meeting of the council of the Socialist International slated for May 23 to 24.
