According to the news on May 19th from Nanning, an award ceremony for the top ten counties (cities and districts) in terms of economic development in 2004 was held by the Party Committee and government of the Zhuang Ethnic Autonomous Region in the Guangxi Province that morning. At the ceremony a total of 25 counties (cities and districts) won the "Progressive prize for economic development in 2004" and the "Outstanding contribution prize for supporting economic development".

In 2004 the 89 county-level areas in the entire autonomous region realized an overall production value of RMB 214.85 billion, an increase of 12.5 percent over last year. Among them 19 counties (cities and districts) witnessed an increase of over 15 percent, with farmers' per capita net income rising 10.1 percent.
