font size

According to a People's Daily report from Beijing on May 19th, a meeting was held that day to illustrate the 8th Sci-tech Expo of Tongzhou by the Tongzhou district government and the Beijing Council for the Promotion of International Trade. At the meeting a total of 38 projects in 10 categories were unveiled. These projects will require 35 billion yuan to be invested over the next 5 years, of which 5 billion yuan will be invested by the government and 30 billion yuan will come from private sources.

Topping the list of these various projects is a comprehensive development plan for the urban section of the Grand Canal, which is attracting everyone's attention. The total investment for the first phase of the development project will reach 6.5 billion yuan. Not long afterwards the Grand Canal, which has been neglected for over a hundred years, will become a new destination for Beijing's leisure seekers.
