Omron invests in Guangzhou to produce automobile electronic device

Japan-based Omron Corporation announced May 23 in Beijing to set up a company in Guangzhou, south China, for producing electronic device for automobile use, specially targeting the Chinese market.

At an investment totaling 1.6 billion yen (some 16 million US dollars), the new company will begin production in January 2006. At initial stage, production will focus on electronic devices such as switch of electrically operated windows and automobile lock to be opened through electromagnetic induction. Various kinds of electrically controlled devices, which are now under research, will be produced in two or three years.
