Hong Kong welcomes the decision that its textile and clothing undergoing outward processing on China's mainland will be exempted from export duties posed by it, a government official said in HK Tuesday.
"I am glad to note the mainland has responded promptly and favorably to our concerns. The Ministry of Commerce's decision would certainly help eliminate adverse impact to our textile and clothing exports," Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology John Tsang said.
The agreement was made at the Joint Steering Committee meeting of CEPA, chaired by the Director-General of Trade and Industry Raymond Young and the Director-General of the Department of Taiwan,Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Wang Liaoping, in Beijing Tuesday.
The meeting also saw consensus that the automatic export licensing measure applied on exports to Hong Kong also be dispensed with.
