The National Hockey League will resume talks with the players union Wednesday in Chicago, in a smaller-group format just five days after concluding four straight days of meetings, according to the AP on Tuesday.
Both sides said last week's negotiations made some progess toward ending their nine-month dispute over a salary cap that resulted in club owners locking out the players and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman cancelling the entire season in February.
While Bettman and union executive director Bob Goodenow testified last week before a House of Representatives' Energy and Commerce subcommittee regarding doping in U.S. sports, smaller groups of negotiators got together for discussions on Tuesday and Wednesday in New York.
Most of the time was spent reviewing the finances of the 30 NHL teams, how each club reports its figures, and what qualifies as revenue - which has long been a source of contention.
