State Grid Corporation held a telephone conference on May 24, drawing up plans to ease the power shortage in the coming summer, implementing the mutual aid and cooperation of trans-regional and trans-valley hydropower and thermal power as well as the optimization of national resources distribution, so as to ensure the regular power supply for civil use in major cities across China.

It is estimated that the largest power shortage this summer will jump to 30million kw. Of the total shortage, the largest power shortage in State Grid Corporation system this summer will reach 25 million kw. State Grid Corporation recently accelerates the construction of million-voltage AC and PN 8million KV DC super high voltage grids, forming a new power supply structure.

So far, State Grid Corporation has kicked off the overall improvement of power transmission. It is estimated that the power transmission capacity of trans-regional and some regional grids could be increased by 1.4 million kw, a year-on-year increase of 14.7 percent, which will alleviate power shortage in some areas.
