Hong Kong celebrities have expressed their support of Donald Tsang's running for the Chief Executive election.

Donald Tsang announced Wednesday evening that he had tendered resignation as Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Administration in view of his intention to run for the Chief Executive election.

Henry Ying Tung Fok, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said Tsang has enjoyed the support of most Hong Kong people since he took the role as acting Chief Executive in March, adding his administration is quite effective.

Hsang Hin Chi, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said in the past two month, Tsang has experienced trials. Under the governance of Tsang, Hong Kong has witnessed social stability and economic growth, which is the expectation of Hong Kong people.

Victor Fung Kwok-king, chairman of the Airport Authority, said he always consider Tsang an outstanding administrative talent who enjoys broad support from the Hong Kong people.

Vicent Cheng Hoi-chuen, new chairman of Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp, said Tsang's running for the CE election is a good thing for Hong Kong. Tsang is very familiar with the workings of the government and Hong Kong people also know him well.

He said Hong Kong now enjoys political and social stability and he believed that social upheaval would not appear in Hong Kong after the new CE takes office.

Describing Tsang as quite decisive, Wden Woon, CEO of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, said Tsang is competent for the role of CE.
