Huaneng Group launches "green coal power" program

China Huaneng Group has taken the lead to launch a program on environment-friendly coal power. It aims to greatly improve the efficiency of coal power generation and to realize a near-zero emission of pollutant in coal power generation system.

The objective of the program in its first state is to complete technological renovation on integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) in demonstion power plants by 2010 and to complete experiment and validation on the technologies of hydrogen from coal, electricity generation by fuel cells and carbon dioxide separation.
