The International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) should focus on promoting Asian cooperation, said Cai Wu, vice minister of the International Department of the CPC (Communist Party of China) Central Committee in Seoul on Thursday.
Cai made the remarks at the Standing Committee Meeting of the ICAPP held in Seoul on Thursday.
In his speech, Cai also urged Asian political parties to boost mutual trust and consider concern of other parties through more exchanges.
He said the ICAPP should update the idea of security so as to maintain regional peace.
Guided by exchanges of economy and trade, political parties in Asia should make overall cooperation, said Cai.
Twelve members of the Standing Committee of the ICAPP, including Cai, attended the one-day meeting here.
Seoul was picked as the venue to host the fourth main session of the ICAPP in 2006 in Thursday's meeting.
Earlier Thursday, South Korean ruling Uri Party leader Moon Hee- sang met participants of the meeting.
Cai also held meeting with South Korean Grand National Party's floor leader Kang Jae-sup in the day.
The ICAPP meeting was launched in the Philippines in 2000 to promote political cooperation and exchange programs among Asian countries. The third session took place in China last year and drew representatives from 90 political parties of 37 Asian countries.
