Vietnam to spend US$6.3 mln to vaccinate fowls
font size

Vietnam's Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry has asked the government for permission and 100 billion Vietnamese dong (about 6.3 million dollars) to vaccinate 212 million fowls nationwide in August against bird flu, local newspaper Saigon Times reported Thursday.

The ministry made the request late last week, following positive vaccination results at poultry farms in northern Ha Tay province and southern Dong Nai province, the paper quoted Bui Quang Anh, chief of the Department for Animal Health as saying.

The ministry plans to buy three types of vaccine, one from neighboring China, Intervet from The Netherlands and Trovac AIH5 from France against the disease, which again broke out in the first half of last year and early this year.
