Ministry of Commerce released top 500 import and export enterprises and 200 enterprises with the largest export volume in China 2004 on May 26. China Petrochemical International Co., Ltd and Hongfujing Precision Industry (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd are on the first places of top 500 import and export enterprises and 200 enterprises with the largest export volume respectively.

The total export volume of top 200 export enterprises stood at 181.17 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 33.6 percent or accounting for 30.5 percent of the nation's total. The total import volume of top 500 import and export enterprises recorded 487.11 billion US dollars, up 35.1 percent from last year or taking up 42.3 percent of the nation's total.

The criteria and scale for entering into the national top import enterprises have been greatly heightened. Trade volume, the lowest criterion for entering the top 500 import and export enterprises, has been heightened from 191.37 million US dollars in 2004 to 255.29 million US dollars, and the average import and export volume from 721.22 million US dollars in 2004 to 974.23 US dollars. Six among the top ten in 500 import and export enterprises and nine among top ten in 200 export enterprises are high-tech enterprises.
