Torture by judicial personnel is not allowed: official

Evidence-gathering techniques involving torture, violence, threats, seduction and lies during judicial interrogation are strictly prohibited, said Qiu Xueqiang, deputy procurator general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate Thursday.

Speaking at the third national conference on public prosecution, Qiu told all procurators to work in accordance with law, which will help maintain social stability.

Step by step, all interrogations by public prosecutors must be recorded with visual and audio equipment, Qiu said. Evidence that has been collected through illegal procedure must be recollected in accordance with law, he added.

Chinese procuratorates will try to set up a scientific, perfect and unitary system for the work of public prosecution within three years, the vice procurator general said.
