The United States would further joint efforts with India in managing crises as it put in place a comprehensive cooperation framework with the country, Indo-Asian News Service Sunday quoted a senior American diplomat as saying.
"India has the ambition to become a global player, and wants to be a member of UN Security Council, so we are putting in place the building blocks now to work more closely with India on a huge range of topics -- energy, military, science and technology, health and other fields," said Rober Blake, charge d'affaires in the US embassy here.
Among all, US will work "more closely" with India to manage crises around the world, said Blake.
A "very good" example of bilateral cooperation was the relief operation after the Dec. 26 tsunami, which "reflected the habits of cooperation that the two countries have developed," he added.
The bilateral cooperation would be in step with India's "ambition to be a global player" and a member of the United Nations' Security Council, said Blake.
On the reform of UN, he said, "We already have dialogues on that, and our special advisor on UN reform will visit New Delhi."
However, Blake sounded the US concerns over the proposed Indo-Iranian gas pipeline.
Still, he said India was aware of the US concern and "this is not a major focus area compared to the dialogue we had on strategic energy and economic issues."
