China has the capability, confidence and means to achieve its preset goals of economic and social development, Chinese Premier
Wen Jiabao said in
Beijing Monday.
During a meeting with some of the attendants of the Nobel Laureates Beijing Forum 2005, an event held in Beijing Monday afternoon, Wen said China had found a correct way of development suitable to its national conditions.
He said China enjoys a vast market with huge potentials to tap, rich and increasingly better-educated human resources, high savings ratio, and a stable political and social environment.
Also, China has accumulated rich material and technological strengths and invaluable experience in addressing various difficulties and contradictions during the past decades, he said.
Wen noted that China is now in a pivotal period of building a moderately wealthy society and accelerating modernization. It is " a period that a number of contradictions and problems could emerge and also a hopeful period that lots of works can be done and deeds be achieved," he said.
He said China is willing to listen to opinions and advice from various sides of international community and learn from the advanced experience of other countries. Meanwhile, he said that China, a country with 1.3 billion people, will proceed from its own conditions and always stick to the route of development with Chinese characteristics.
Wen said China's economic development is good in general and the Chinese government is consolidating and developing favorable economic situation by resolving existing contradictions and problems.
Wen said China will firmly push forward the reform in favor of the socialist market economy and speed up innovation in its economic system.
Wen said China will firmly scale up its opening to the outside world in a bid to develop a more open economic system and hone the country's international competitiveness and risk-resistance capabilities.
Wen said China will firmly focus on the central task of economic development and continuously increase economic power and comprehensive national strength.
Wen said China will firmly carry out the scientific concept of development, pursue a new route of industrialization, protect the environment, develop a resources-efficient economy and society, and promote the comprehensive, balanced and sustainable growth of its economy and society.
Wen said China will firmly put the fundamental interests of the people in prior agenda, guaranteeing universal sharing of the benefits of reform and development, and realizing common prosperity in gradual paces.
Wen said China will firmly pursue the route of peaceful development and mainly rely on its own strength to realize development by means of reform.
"China will remain a firm force to safeguard world peace and promote common development," he said.
