Saad Hariri officially announced victory in election

Saad Hariri, the son of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, swept parliamentary elections in Lebanon's capital, Beirut.

Official results confirmed on Monday that candidates led by Hariri won all 19 seats in Beirut.

In one constituency, the number of votes collected by Hariri was five times that of the loser.

Hariri pledged unity after the polls.

"Today we are putting our hands with those who didn't vote. We are not here to neglect anybody's role. We are here to offer a new dialogue. We are here to make national unity." Hariri said.

He said his victory will frighten a lot of people who are trying to cover up the truth in his father's assassination.

The European Union's chief observer for the Lebanese elections said that parliamentary polls were free and fair.

More than 100 observers from the European Union and the United Nations watched the vote for irregularities, the first time Lebanon permitted foreign scrutiny.
