An official with the State Environmental Protection Administration said Monday that all the aquatic pollution control programs for the Haihe drainage area within Beijing area have been started according to the Tenth Five Year plan. All of them, with the exception of two which will be completed next year, will be finished by the end of this year.

According to sources by April Beijing has completed constructing 12 of the 15 urban sewage treatment centers. The other three are being built, which include the Xiaohongmen Sewage Treatment Plant to be completed by the yearend, Dingfuzhuang Sewage Treatment Plant and supporting pipeline project and Beiyuan Sewage Treatment Plant and supporting pipeline project to be finished next year.
