6 KFC employees burnt to death after mosque blast in Karachi
font size

Six employees of the US fast-food franchise Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) were burnt to death on Monday night during disturbances triggered by a suicide attack at a Shiite mosque in the restive southern port city of Karachi in Pakistan, police said Tuesday.

Some angry Shiites set fire to the KFC restaurant but the bodies of those burned were only found on Tuesday morning by police and firemen, city police chief Tariq Jamil said.

Five people including one policeman and three attackers were killed and a dozen of others injured on Monday evening in the mosque attack, which triggered disturbances in different parts of the city, leaving two oil pumps and at least four vehicles on ablaze.

Monday's suicide attack came three days after a powerful explosion occurred at a Shiite shrine last week in Islamabad, which killed about 20 people and injured over 100 others.
