China's Red Cross donates 400 mln yuan for tsunami relief

After the tsunamis occurred in the Indian Ocean China's Red Cross organized one of the largest and the most successful humanitarian relief activity in its history.

By May 2005 China's Red Cross has raised funds of 400 million yuan for the relief of the tsunamis and has 11 times donated funds and materials worth of 180 million yuan to the Red Cross in the disaster-hit countries and the International Red Cross Organization.

Apart from this, the Red Cross in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region also raised 660 million HK dollars. The Red Cross in the Macao Special Administrative Region raised 40 million Macao patacas. The Taiwan Red Cross raised 540 million New Taiwan Dollars.
