Euro falls sharply after Dutch vote
font size

The euro dropped to an eight-month low against the US dollar Wednesday after exit polls showed a firm Dutch rejection of the European Constitution.

At the close of trading in New York Wednesday, the euro sank to 1.22 US dollars, its lowest level since September.

Investors have been selling the euro since French voters rejected the EU constitution on Sunday.

Since then, the euro has fallen 3.2 percent against the dollar, and analysts predict it will continue to fall.
