Bank of China reports non-performing loan ratio of 5.12%

According to the annual report 2004 released on May 31, Bank of China has basically completed disposal of bad assets and its assets quality has been improved remarkably. Its non-performing loan ratio was 5.12% by the end of 2004.

The operating profit of the Bank of China Group reached 57.8 bln yuan and the net profit 20.9 bln yuan in 2004. Excluding the influence of yield from selling part of stakes of BOC Hong Kong Ltd. in 2003, the group had a 21.3% increase in operating profit over 2003 but its net profit remained almost the same with that of 2003.
