Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and his Indian counterpart Natwar Singh met Thursday in Vadivostok on bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues of common concern.
Li, meeting Singh on the sidelines of the informal trilateral meeting of foreign ministers from China, Russia and India, said Sino-Indian relations have made remarkable progress this year during which the two countries announced the establishment of strategic cooperative partnership oriented to peace and prosperity.
The Chinese foreign minister said it not only conforms to the fundamental interests of the two countries and the two peoples, but also conduces to peace and stability in the region and the world as a whole.
China will make joint efforts with India to expand cooperation in the political, economic and commercial, cultural, educational and scientific fields, as well as to encourage the exchange of personnel and continue talks on border issues, Li said.
Singh said the announcement to establish strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries ushered in a new phase for the full-around development of bilateral ties and pushed forward the cooperation process in all fields.
India is confident in the development of Indian-Chinese ties and hopes the two sides will strengthen cooperation, carry out the consensus achieved between top leaders of the two countries and bring the bilateral ties to a new level, Sing said.
