Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni on Thursday met with visiting Chinese Buddhist delegation led by the Most Venerable Sheng Hui at the Royal Palace.

During the meeting, King Sihamoni said the exchange and cooperation between Buddhist circle of the two countries have played an important role for strengthening the traditional friendship between Cambodia and China.

The King expressed wishes to further strengthen the exchange and cooperation of the Buddhist circle between the two countries, which he said will contribute greatly to the two countries' stability, prosperity and people's well-being, as well as the regional and world peace.

Sheng Hui, who is also vice-president of the Buddhist Association of China, briefed Sihamoni the development of China's Buddhist cause and the exchange between China's Buddhist and the world Buddhist circle.

On the same day, the delegation also met with Cambodia's Buddhist masters of Tep Vong, the Mahanikaya Buddhist sect, and Bou Kry, the Dhamayut Buddhist sect.

The two masters said that Cambodia's Buddhist circle firmly supports the royal government's stance on "one China" policy.

Cambodia's Minister of Cults and Religious Affairs Khun Hang also met with the Chinese Buddhist delegation.

Cambodia is the second trip of the Chinese Buddhist delegation that arrived on Tuesday from Myanmar on a four-day visit. The delegation will proceed to Vietnam and Laos.
