font size

According to a survey conducted by Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education, Hong Kong, most Hong Kong citizens feel proud of the remarkable achievements China has made. Among the total interviewees, 73 percent expressed their proudness of being Chinese.

This is the first time that Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education, Hong Kong conducted a survey on the nationality and national consciousness of Hong Kong citizens since it launched the public educational opinion poll on an every-other-year basis since 1986.

The survey shows that the old and those who have frequent contact with mainland citizens have stronger feeling of identity and national proudness. Meanwhile, 74 percent of the interviewees are satisfied with the economic development in Chinese mainland, and think China's international status is continuously rising in terms of politics (88 percent) and economy (93 percent).
