font size

Up to now, China has launched 37 anti-dumping investigations against imported products and one investigation concerning safeguards, according to the latest statistics from Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOC).

According to sources with the Bureau of Industry Injury Investigation under the MOC, since China joined the World Trade Organization (WTO), import tariffs have been greatly reduced and various traditional protective measures gradually cancelled. Plus, trade remedy has played a more and more prominent role in safeguarding the security of industries.

Among the total 37 anti-dumping investigations launched till now, 25 appeared after China's WTO entry. Final findings have been made in 22 cases with anti-dumping taxes levied. Two cases were stopped without injury. One case was stopped due to margin of dumping lower than two percent and the applicant in another case dropped the suit.

The cases in China in which trade remedy is applied concern 35 categories of products in five major industries -- chemical industry, steel, light industry, textile and electronic industry -- and two thirds of them were seen in the chemical industry.

Over 110 domestic enterprises in 23 province-level regions have been involved and anti-dumping cases have totaled US$six billion.
