China to host WTO mini-ministerial meeting
font size

China will host a mini-ministerial meeting of the World Trade Organization (WTO) next month, the Ministry of Commerce announced Saturday.

The meeting, to be held for the first time in China after its accession to the WTO, has been welcomed by ministers attending the trade ministers' meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in the Republic of Korea on Friday, the Ministry of Commerce said in a release.

Ministers attending the mini-ministerial will exchange views on issues of the new round of world free trade talks, called the Doha Round, so named as it was launched at the ministerial meeting in the Qatari capital of Doha in 2001.

China has said it hopes the new round can achieve balanced results, and all resolutions must be carried out.

Currently, China's exports of textile goods and garments have been under restriction by the United States and the European Union four months after the textile quota regime ended according to decisions of the previous round of WTO talks.
