China on Sunday published "Biography of Chen Yun" in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of this late Chinese leader's birthday.
The book, compiled by Party Literature Research Center of the CPC Central Committee, recalls Chen's contribution to the liberation of the country and the socialist system, and his leading roles in the party and economic construction.
Written in 43 chapters, the biography quoted records of Chen's speeches, letters and telegrams, party meetings, memoirs of his colleagues and kinds of publications. Some of them are published for first time.
A symposium was also held in Beijing on Sunday to mark Chen, who played a vital role in the country's reform and opening-up drive.
Chen, a native of Shanghai, was a veteran member of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) and had long held important leading positions in the CPC's Central Committee. He bowed out of the CPC Central Committee at the 13th CPC National Congress in 1987, and became chairman of the CPC's Central Advisory Commission, an important advisory body to the party's top decision-makers.
He passed away in 1995 in Beijing, at the age of 90.
