The 2005 Northeast Asia Hi-Tech Fair (NEAF) will be held in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, in September, said Teng Weiping, deputy governor of Liaoning Monday.

The high-technology fair, scheduled Sept. 21 to 24, will take "Cooperation, Innovation and Development" as its theme and aim at "strengthening regional cooperation in northeast Asia and promoting the development of high and new technology industries relying on scientific and technological innovation", said Teng.

He said the provincial government will organize several trips to neighboring countries such as South Korea and Japan to promote the NEAF, which is expected to be attended by 50,000 officials, businessmen and experts from home and abroad.

During the NEAF, a series of economic and trade talks will be held, including talks on key projects for revitalizing northeast China, symposiums for Sino-Russian and Sino-Korean technology cooperation and auction of new pharmaceutical technologies.

The first NEAF held in Shenyang attracted more than 20,000 people from home and abroad to sign more than 300 contracts and high-technology cooperative agreements valuing two billion yuan (240 million US dollars).
