Shanghai-Taiwan trade surges aheadThe volume of trade between Taiwan and Shanghai rose to 6.47 billion US dollars in the first four months of the year, up 18 percent on a year-on-year basis, sources from Shanghai Customs authority said. Shanghai exported 1.8 billion US dollars worth of commodities to Taiwan from January to April, up about 33 percent, and imported 4.67 billion dollars worth of commodities from Taiwan during the same period, up 13 percent. The processing business is the primary form of trade between the two places, with the value being placed at 3.67 billion dollars in the January-April period, a rise of 20 percent, and the most popularly traded commodities are machinery and electronic products, said the local customs sources.
