Armed Police working at bridge project in Yarlung Zangbo River Canyon
font size

Officers of the Chinese People's Armed Police (PAP) are now working at a bridge project in the cliffy Yarlung Zangbo River Canyon, in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Over the past 20 days, these officers braved strong winds to install girders with a total weight of 3,840 tons.

The bridge is 360 meters long and at an altitude of over 4,000 meters. It is said to be very difficult to build, technically.

These bridge builders come from the No. 2 Regiment of the PAP Communications Corps, an engineering division of the Chinese armed police. PAP engineering troops are one of the main builder forces of major infrastructure projects in China, including the mammoth Three Gorges Dam Project in central China's Hubei Province.
