font size

June 8, 2005 is the closing day for registration for Chinese Kuomintang Party (KMT) chairmanship election. The KMT chairman Lien Chan said at a conference on that day that he will not take part in the election. Two vice chairmen, Ma Ying-jeou and Wang Chin-ping, who have registered, will compete for the chairmanship.

According to Taiwan media's report, the registration closed on June 8, 2005 in the afternoon. Lien Chan said he had expressed his views very clearly regarding the development of party affairs. He wished the two vice chairmen will "keep the competition the one between men of honor and spare no effort in the final sprint" and bring the party into a new stage of development.
