Brewing giant InBev pledges more investment in China
font size

InBev S.A., the world's largest beer producer, plans to further explore the Chinese market with more investment, president of InBev board of directors Pierre Jean Everaert said on Thursday in Shanghai.

China will become one of the world's fastest growing beer markets and it has great potential for further development, Everaert said at the China-Belgium Business Forum, which opened Thursday in Shanghai, without giving any details about the business plan.

The demand for beer in China has increased at an annual rate of 45 percent since 2001, but the average beer consumption rate per person in China is far less than that in some European countries, according to Everaert.

With 28 production bases and 14,000 employees in China, Belgium- based InBev produces 3 million tons of beer every year, which accounts for about 10 percent of China's beer market.
