Reception marks 20th anniversary of China's Consulate General in Nagasaki

Japan's Nagasaki prefecture held a reception in Beijing on June 8 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of China's Consulate General there.

Kaneko Genjiro, governor of Nagasaki, said China's Consulate General in Nagasaki has played an important role in promoting exchanges and cooperation between Nagasaki and China in the fields of politics, economy and culture since its founding in May 1985.

He said that this year Nagasaki will expand its economic and tourist exchanges with China.

Addressing the reception, Chairman of the China-Japan Friendship Association Song Jian expressed his appreciation for the contributions made by Nagasaki's current and previous governments towards the promotion of Sino-Japanese friendship. He said he hopes that Kaneko Genjiro will continue to contribute to the friendly exchanges between the two countries' local governments.

Before the reception, Song met with a Nagasaki delegation led by Kaneko Genjiro. The Japanese delegation is here as guest of the China-Japan Friendship Association.
