    "Monsters" emerge in the Kanas Lake

    Seven tourists from Beijing witnessed two huge black objects emerging from beneath water at the Kanas Lake in Xinjiang Autonomous Region at 7:50 p.m. on June 7, 2005. They saw the two objects leaping forward one after another in the lake. Two minutes later they disappeared under the water. The lake monsters appeared once again on June 8. The photo features traces left on the lake surface by the "monsters".

    Taiwan fruits receive warm welcome in Ningbo

    Visitors to the 4th China International Daily Consumable Expo take a photo in front of Taiwan fruits' stand on June 9 in Ningbo, east China's Zhejiang Province. The five kinds of fruits presented by Taiwan exhibitors have received warm welcome in the city. Ningbo has been approved to purchase 1,020 tons of fruits from Taiwan in the latter half of the year.

    ROK, US reach agreement on cost-sharing

    French PM presents government's general policy

    French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin on June 8 presented his government's general policy for the next two years in front of the lower house of the French parliament, giving priority to fight against unemployment. The new plan obtained the approval by the lower house of the French parliament with 363 for and 178 against as well as four abstentions. Among 577 members of parliament, 32 didn't vote.

    Lhasa sees great increase in traffic

    Cars and motorcycles run in a street in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region on June 8, 2005. The total length of the urban road in Lhasa has extended from one kilometer in 1951��to 241 kilometers at present. There is a private car for every 23 residents in Lhasa by the end of the year 2004, five times of the national average. Furthermore, more than 770 buses and 1,200 taxies serve the residents of the city.

Twelve foreign visitors from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and several other countries formed an expedition team and would drift along the river of Khongpo Namchu and Lhasa River for over twenty days. Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau attracts thousands of visitors from home and abroad with its natural scenery and unique landscape.
