India mulls opening road between India, Pakistan-administered KashmirIndia was thinking of discussing with Pakistan to open a road between Kargil in India-administered Kashmir and Skardu in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Indo-Asian News Service reported. "I have been told that the people of Kargil want to revive their traditional ties with Baltistan and Gilgit (in the northern region of Pakistan-administered Kashmir)," said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday while laying the foundation stone for a hydroelectric project in Kargil. "We are examining a proposal to start talks in Pakistan to open the Kargil-Skardu road," he told a public gathering there. He said the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus, which started this April after 55 years, was an important step in the process.
