font size

Passenger traffic, cargo throughput and aircraft movements all presented robust growth in May, Hong Kong Airport Authority said Sunday.

A total of 3.3 million passengers passed through Hong Kong International Airport, up 17.3 percent compared with the same period last year.

Air cargo throughput reached 269,000 tons, representing a 9.4 percent increase. Aircraft movements also increased by 10.4 percent compared with last May, amounting to 21,560.

According to Heidi Kwan, the authority's chief communication officer, Europe and Chinese mainland markets continued to be the driving force in the growth of cargo volume while long-haul passenger markets of the US, Europe and Australia showed healthy growth.
