Two kidnapped Indonesians rescued in Philippines

Two of the three Indonesians, who were kidnapped on March 30 in the southern Philippines, have been rescued, the military said Sunday.

Joint Task Force Comet chief Brigadier General Alexander Aleo said that the three Indonesian crewmen were abducted by a still unidentified group in Mataking Island in Semporman, Malaysia and brought to the Philippine border.

The Philippine military's task force began to rescue the hostages at the request of Indonesian consuls, who went to the southern province of Sulu to seek help, Aleo said.

However, the military authorities refused to elaborate on the rescue before they report the development to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
