    New achievements made at the Three Gorges

    The two sections of the Wanzhou Yangtze River Bridge are joining together on June 12, 2005. The closure of the Wanzhou Yangtze River Bridge, China's first large-span steel beam railway bridge built by the China Zhongtie Major Bridge Engineering Co., Ltd., was successfully completed on that day. The 1,106.3-meter-long bridge costs about 184 mln yuan. The 360-meter-long main arch of the bridge is the longest one in China.

    Hundreds of domestic and foreign dancers stage performances in Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi Province June 12, 2005, marking the opening of an international art festival that highlights ancient China's exorcism customs. Some 34 folk dancing teams relived the ancient rituals of expelling evil spirits and pestilence, which were originally staged during Chinese Lunar New Year holidays.

    15 injured in train derailment in Russia
