Diary of invading Japanese soldier found in Qianxi county, Hebei province
A diary left over by an invading Japanese soldier was found in Xifengkou, Qianxi county, north China's Hebei province, where the first shot of the war against Japanese aggression was fired. The diary has 192 pages and 55,000 words. On the title page it reads "Diary kept for expedition to Manchuria", "Asahikawa, train will leave Otaru port at 6: 30 a.m., 26 September, the seventh year of the Reign of Syowa to Manchuria ... ".

Track laying for Qinghai-Tibet railway to finish this year

The 1,142-km Qinghai-Tibet Railway from Golmud in Qinghai Province to Lhasa is the most elevated rail route in the world. Workers will finish laying the tracks for the Qinghai-Tibet railway by the end of this year and trial operation will begin July 1, 2006.
