Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing wrote to former Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk on June 8, expressing China's appreciation for his sympathy for and donation to the flood-affected people in China, the ministry said on June 14.

"The Chinese government and people thank Sihanouk for his sympathy for and donation to the disaster-affected people in Hunan, Guizhou and Sichuan provinces, which were hit by floods and rainstorms since May," said Li in his letter to the former Cambodian king.

Sihanouk wrote a letter to Li to express his sympathy for the flood-affected people in these places and donated 20,000 US dollars to them.

"The Red Cross Society of China has transferred the donation to the disaster-affected people," Li said in the letter.
