Xinjiang province has 17 ports open to the outside. It is an important passage connecting Mid Asia and West Asia and a crucial place of the Asia-Europe continental bridge as well as the forefront for China to explore the Mid Asian, West Asian and South Asian markets and a window open to its west.

The Urumqi Fair with its more than ten years of history has formed its influence with the best hope to become the most influential economic and trade fair in the Mid West Asian region.

By May 30 countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Iran and regions such as China's Taiwan, Hong Kong have subscribed for about a hundred exhibition booths, about one tenth of the booths. From now on the proportion will further expand to reach 20 percent or 30 percent, eventually to form a tripartite balance with oversea, domestic merchants and Xinjiang local merchants.

According to sources this year's Urumqi Fair will for the first time hold Mid West Asia Economic and Trade High-level Cooperation Forum.
