Administrators punished for accidents in central China province
font size

A total of 131 people responsible for 36 serious accidents last year have been given disciplinary warnings within the Party or administrative sanctions and 22 of them were impleaded in central China's Hubei Province, a local supervision department said Tuesday.

The most serious cases of negligence resulted in a traffic accident, which killed 11 in Shennongjia forest region last January; a dyke breach of Dalongtan Reservoir causing 15 deaths and three people missing last May in Enshi; and a coal mine flood which led to 11 deaths in Yangxin County.

Wan Shirong, standing committee member of the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China, attributed the accidents to local officials' lack of concern for safety measures.
