China, US reach consensus on student visaChina and the United States reached understanding in Beijing on June 14 on granting annual multiple entry visa to students entering the other country, China's Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said at a press conference that the ministry had exchanged notes with the US Embassy in Beijing concerning the visa issue. According to the understanding, competent Chinese nationals applying for visa to study in the United States, including the F, M and J visa categories, will be granted multiple entry visa for a 12-month period. But such visa arrangement will be subject to limitation under certain circumstances according to US law on a case-by-case basis. The rule also applies to American nationals who want to study in China, said the spokesman. "Such an understanding will effectively improve educational cooperation and personnel exchange between China and the United States," Liu said. Source: Xinhua |
