President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahayan met on June 13 visiting Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan. The two leaders pledging further strengthening mutual trust and economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the talk, Sheikh Khalifa noted that the UAE has always attached great importance to friendly relationships with China. His country has always insisted on the one-China principle and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China on international affairs, the UAE president said.
He also expressed hope that more Chinese enterprises would come to the UAE market to invest and do business, and that the two countries would increase cooperation in economic areas such as energy. The president believed Zeng's visit would definitely consolidate and promote the political, economic and other friendly cooperative relations between the two countries.
For his part, Zeng said the current economic cooperation and development between the two nations enjoy a good momentum, with an increasing number of trade activities and a fast growing investment volume. China and the UAE have highly complementary economies, thus the two countries enjoy a large potential for future cooperation, Zeng said.
In the future, China will further boost economic ties with the Middle East country based on complementary and mutually beneficial principles, especially in trade, energy, infrastructure and other areas, the Chinese vice premier pledged.
On the topic of relations with Arab countries, Zeng said establishing and developing a comprehensive, friendly and cooperative relationship with all Arab countries is a set diplomatic principle of the Chinese government. China would like to further enhance dialogue and cooperation with the Arab countries including the UAE on international and regional affairs, especially with the Gulf countries, Zeng said.
During his visit, Zeng also met the UAE Energy Minister Mohammed Bin Dha'en Al Hamili and attended a memorandum signing ceremony of the two national petroleum corporations. Entrepreneurs from the two countries also exchanged views on future cooperation in business events.
