A Sports Supporters Association in Zimbabwe that will encompass all sporting disciplines in the country is set to be launched in the next few days, courtesy of a proposal by the Simeon Jamanda-led Zimbabwe National Soccer Supporters Association (ZNSSA).
Jamanda, who is also the Zimbabwe Football Association chief of protocol, said on Tuesday consultations among supporters' associations in various sporting disciplines had already taken place pending elections for a substantive board.
"We are going to appoint a committee that will oversee the activities and organization of the supporters pending elections to choose a substantive board," he said.
"Proposals have also been forwarded to the Sports and Recreation Commission for the organization to be fully registered."
He said the body would be called the ZNSSA as it would take on board supporters from various sporting disciplines.
Jamanda lamented the lack of support that was witnessed when Zimbabwe Cricket 'A' side played Pakistan 'A' last month where less than 20 people were reported to have paid to watch the match.
He said mobilizing support for any national team would be made easier if all stakeholders involved came together to drum up support.
