A major earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale rocked coast of Northern California, the United States, at 11:04 a.m. Hong Kong time on Wednesday (GMT 2304 Tuesday).

According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the epicenter was initially determined to be 41.3 south latitude and 125.9 west longitude, about 510 kilometers east-northeast of Northwest of San Francisco.
