176 enterprises have been listed as key enterprises in the national plan, which aims to boost the R&D and production capability of China's software industry and realize a new breakthrough in the sector. These enterprises have increasingly become a driving force of the industry.
Apart from the key enterprises, the nation has also set bases for the software industry and its export, according to sources from Chinese Ministry of Information Industry at the International Soft China 2005.
A good momentum has been seen in the 11 national software industry bases -- Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Chengdu, Xi'an, Jinan, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Changsha, Nanjing and Zhuhai -- which have played an important demonstration role in the R&D and introduction of new technologies, innovative development of new software products, and accelerating the commercial transformation of research achievements.
The six software export bases -- Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Xi'an -- are also playing an increasingly outstanding role.
China's aggregate took up 3.55 percent of the world software industry in 2004, up from 1.2 percent in 2000.
