Chirac writes inscription for Chinese aviation industry

In his visit to the 46th Paris Air Show on June 13, 2005, French President Jacques Chirac came specially to the exhibition area of China Aviation Industry Corporation I (AVIC I), where he talked with the Chinese staffs and wrote inscription "heartfelt acclaims and friendship".

The No.2 hall where AVIC I showcases its exhibits is the core area of the Air Show. As Mr. Chirac stepped to the exhibition areas of AVIC I, he stopped for a while in front of a model of the Chinese-designed ARJ21 regional jet, which is to be put into production soon. He inquired about the Chinese aviation industry and cooperation between China and France, China and Europe in the aviation area.

Deputy G.M. of the AVIC I Yang Yuzhong introduced to Mr. Chirac progresses of China's aviation industry and new products it is to release in details. Mr. Chirac was very pleased when hearing the technical cooperation between China and France was going deeper and deeper. Then he wrote an inscription for the AVIC I.

The Chinese staff presented a Sun Tzu's Art of War inscribed on bamboo slips to Mr. Chirac. "Sun Tzu's Art of War. I know about it. It is great wisdom of the Chinese," Mr. Chirac said joyously seeing the gift.

Around AVIC I's exhibition area are leading enterprises in world aviation industry like France Dassault Group and Airbus etc. But the models of ARJ21 regional jets have attracted large number of audiences too.

According to Yang Yuzhong, this is the second time that AVIC I participates in the Paris Air Show. By choosing the core hall to display the exhibit, the AVIC I means to showcase strength of China's aviation industry, to make the industry known to the world, and to learn from other noted enterprises in the world. He said China and France have extensive cooperation in many fields like helicopter, parts of passenger airliners. China has also acquired subcontracts from the Airbus. The cooperation is expanding continuously.
