Chinese panda "Meixiang" may be pregnant
The giant panda "Meixiang"ate apple at the American National Zoo near Washington. (file photo dated Apr 15, 2003). Scientist said June 14 that the female giant panda "Meixiang"may be pregnant. On March 11 "Meixiang"received artificial insemination. The semen was from a male panda "Tiantian"who resides with "Meixiang"in the same hall. "Tiantian"and "Meixiang"arrived in the United State at the end of 2000 and will live in Washington for ten years. The offspring they bear during this period belong to China.

New York -- Beiing direct flight

Continental Airlines opened its direct flight from New York to Beijing, capital of China, on June 15. The flight is the only nonstop service, operated by a US airline, between New York and a city in the Chinese mainland.

Bayi Aerobatics Team with new jets makes debut
The PLA Air Force's Bayi Aerobatics Team staged performance for military attaches from more than 30 embassies in China, including Russia, the United States, and Germany on June 15, 2005. This is the first time the Bayi Aerobatics Team performs in public since it was equipped with new jets in April 2005. Hailed as "honor guard in the blue sky", the Bayi Aerobatics Team has given hundreds of aerobatic shows to delegations from more than 100 countries and regions in the world since it was founded in 1962.

Direct flight between China and Sir Lanka available
A Sri Lanka airliner UL888 arrives at the Capital International Airport in Beijing June 15, 2005. It marks the start of a thrice-weekly airline service between the Sri Lankan and Chinese capitals.The flights on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday will operate from Colombo to Beijing via Bangkok.
